Unhappy

My friend and I rented an apartment but she moved out and I could not pay rent and was subsequently evicted. Now the apartment complex wants me to pay an exorbanent amount of money. I asked why they did not go after her and their answer was she has bad credit and I have good credit (actually none). I cannot pay, I don't have a job and circumstances are such that I will not be able to work for a while. I live with a friend and lost everything. They said if I don't make arrangements for payments they will report it to the credit bureau with a judgement so I'll never be able to rent again and the amount I'll owe will continue to increase. What can I do to protect myself?

It's too late to protect yourself. The game is over. You've got a judgment & it's collecting interest at about 12%. It won't go away unless you declare bankruptcy. Tell L to go ahead & report it -- you're judgment proof. They should try to garnish your friend's wages if they want money.

Well this is called "LIFE SKILLS CLASS"

When you enter into a contract you are agreeing to pay for it.... like rent for a YEAR..... and NO EXCUSES!

Well you screwed up, and to make matters worse....you probably didnt show up in court to at least try and defend youslef, and maybe get a better deal.

The landlord has to prove they tried to re rent it ASAP, so you would only be liable for rent while it its empty.

So how much are they asking for? and how did they break down the costs?

Cant you borrow money from your parents to avoid it ruing your credit?
