Louisiana, We purchased a house in 9/85 using local lender with Hud, we divorced in 10/89. In divorce papers ex took house and mortgage. In 9/90, ex tells me he sold the house. I did not have to sign any paperwork on this. Now in 2001, I get served papers saying house is up for sheriff's sale. Instead of selling the house, he allowed people to assume mortgage. No payment have been made since 10/97. I have not been notified of anything until I was served papers. Can I be held responsible, since I did not sign allowing these people to assume mortgage, and if not is there any way I can get out of this?
