Being released from a co-signer roleWhat is the name of your state? Massachusetts About a year ago my brother forged my name as a co-singer, so he could buy rental property. Since then, mortgage payments have been consistently late and I have lost all control to do anything with the house not to mention how this is affecting my credit. My brother looked into re-financing the house to take me off the deed but since the City of Lowell gave him money, he cannot re-finance for another 3 years. Can I sell my portion of the house to my brother for $1? So my name can legally be off of all legal documents? Is there any other action I can take besides forcing my brother to sell the house to be relieved from my co-singer role? I realize him signing my name was illegal and can be charged for fraud, but is there another way I can get out of without taking him to court? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time! |

But don't worry about it next time his illeal acts may be against someone else and you won't get into even more situations. You are on the loan and that can not be changed without a refi. Turn Bro in and NOW to the mortgage company as well as the police. |

The thing I see here though is the OP appears to not have had a problem with the signature originally. Now the OP is getting the short end of the stick and wants out. I believe the OP is being less than open concerning the situation, especially the inception of the financing. |

That is why I suggest going to the Mortgage company as well as the police. I believe the OP is being less than open concerning the situation, especially the inception of the financing. Yep! Actually there is a WHOLE lot missing here. Such as how this was accomplished to begin with. Last edited by pojo2; 03-09-2006 at 05:46 AM. |
