Question

Building Inspection - Missouri

What is the name of your state? Missouri

My son and daughter-in-law are selling their home. The prospective buyer had a building inspector check the property. The inspector made some false statements on the report:
1. Concrete driveway is sinking -- in actuality the drive is gravel and has been for 14 years.
2. No cold water in the bath -- the water handle is a single knob that is raised and rotated to obtain the wanted temperature......turn all the way toward the right and you have all cold water.
3. Retaining wall is rotting -- there is a concrete retaining wall constructed of concrete core samples
4. Roof is defective -- The roof is only 6 years old, some of the gravel is worn away but there are no leaks or punctures.

These are the most prominent items. The buyer has asked for $1500 toward the downpayment/closing or she/they walk. As the kids understand it (from their realestate agent), if the buyer walks away from the contract, and the kids want to relist the house, they have to list all the items that the inspector noted on their disclosure statement and 'fix' them. How can you fix something that isn't wrong. Tear-up a newly remodeled bath to change out the plumbing? Put in a concrete drive?

How can a seller address lies made by the inspector, and how can they be made to disclose the lies as fact? What is the name of your state?

What did the inspector reply in writing after the homeowners requested his response to what they felt were errors?
