What is involved to buy a portion of a very large lot that is adjacent to my property.

And attention to municipal minimum lot sizes, set back requirements, legal requirements for land division locally, location of any easements, right of ways, etc, so that the lot lines are drawn in such a way that they don't create the need for variances. One also needs to plan appropriately so that whatever is planned for the lot does not violate any setbacks, ROWs or easements or create enroachments.
