Can a credit card debt lead to your property being taken away?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? new york

my mother owns a house in ny.she had a credit card debt of 3000 which went up to 10000 with interest when it wasnt paid. the debt was sent to collection agency which is now in the process of evicting us out the house because they say they now own the house because of the credit card debt. the mortgage on the house was not deliquent and was current. they are only offering us $7000 to move out but we must agree within 2 days and$20,000 from the sheriffs sale. i dont know if this is legal or not. - A

A credit card company cannot take away your home.
Do not sign anything over to them. You should seek out an attorney ASAP.
Your credit card company can get a default judgment against you, then they can levy your bank account and garnish your wages. They can also get a court ordered lien put on your property. However they cannot force you from your home. Good luck.
