Can joint homeowner force sale?

I bought a house with a guy I've known for a few years. We are not married. We applied for the mortgage and qualified using both incomes. When he gets angry at me, he threatens me saying that he can force the sale of the house. If he refuses to pay his share of the mortgage, but refuses to move so I can't get a roommate to pay the other half, do I have any legal recourse?

Also, my father gave us $11,000 for the down payment and $4,000 shortly after to replace the airconditioning unit. If he can force the sale, will my father get this money back. It was his check that went directly to the title company. Both my and his name are on the mortgage and the deed.
