Can we be charged rent??

What is the name of your state?Colorado
Hello there,
My mother passed away in Nov. 2004. She had a lease agreement with my grandfather for the home she lived in but her name was on the deed as well. The deed has been transfered into mine and my 3 sisters names, our aunt has threatened to charge us rent if we do not deed the house solely to my grandfather. The deed reads: Expressly reserving to my grandfather the entire use and possesion of the property, all appurtenances thereto, all rents and profits therefrom, for and during his natural life. I need to know if my aunt could really charge us rent.
Thank you in advance

Your post is NOT clear as to has actual ownership. Are you saying that the house was SOLELY in your mothers name and her father (your grandfather) has a life estate??

How does your aunt have any say in this?? Does she have an ownership interest?? If so, how much?? If not, then tell her to 'pound sand'.

That is a 'life estate', granted by a property owner to another person.

That would depend on what 'ownership' she has.... and what you and your sisters have.

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

Sorry I was so vague. The original deed stated that my mother would get the house upon my grandfathers death, sorry I do not recall more but I now have a Personal Representative's deed. My aunt is only acting as my grandfathers power of attorney and she wants us to quit claim deed it back to my grandfather. Hope I was a little clearer.
Thanks
