We closed on our refinance several weeks ago. The closing attorney called us last week to inform us that we owe them money because the pay off balance they got from the original mortgage company was incorrect. This balance was due to taxes that were paid before the closing. They did not obtain a current pay off at time of closing. I don't feel we should be responsible for the entire balance. I agree with some, but we paid fees to them to get the proper numbers. Do we have any leg to stand on to have them pay half or at least a percentage for the mistake they made?
