Complicated Joint TenancyWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CT I have a question regarding a real estate holding when one party dies. The parcel in question is owned by parties A, B, C, and D. The initial deed states they are Joint Tenants with full rights of survivorship and equal percentages. In subsequent years, parties A & B transferred a percentage of the interest in the parcel to parties C&D so that the percentage of ownership changed to: A @ 9%, B @9%, C @41%, and D @ 41%. Parties C and D subsequently transferred their interest to a real estate trust. What happens to the ownership when party A dies? |

| Q: What happens to the ownership when party A dies? A: I like the simple ones; the joint tenancy has been destroyed and A's heirs get his share.

| It's too simple for law school. Maybe it was a kindergarten question. ![]()
