We live in Fort Bend County, Texas. The County wants to purchase 25% of our land for drainage improvements/easement. The 2.3 acres that they want include most of the wooded area of our property, which they would have to clear, which would dramatically decrease our property value (ruin the view!). What kind of guidelines/regulations are there concerning a situation like this? How much can we factor in the decrease in the value of our home due to the removal of the woods into our price? Anything else that we need to be aware of as we negotiate this?

You need to hire a lawyer who has represented defendants in emminent domain cases before.
