Question

deceased homeowner

What is the name of your state? Alabama.

My dad died in December of 2004 leaving no will. My eldest brother lived in the home and paid the mortgage for a year and then he moved out of the residence and stopped paying the mortgage. In August of 2006 the home went into foreclosure and I paid to redeem it. The home sits on about a half acre of land, but I don't actually want the house, I just want the property so I can build on it. I have been paying mortgage payments on this home since August of 2006 and have since acquired the property by filing an heirship affidavit and being issued an heirship deed. Since I now own the actual land do I still have to make mortgage payments on this house? Do I have to buy the house so the mortgage company won't put a lien on my property? Your advice would be helpful. Thanks. What is the name of your state?

Why do you think the house and land are separate property? Is it a manufactured home?

Somewhere in there you skipped a step or two to get to where you instead of the bank owns the property period.
