What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Illinois

the taxes on my house were bought in a tax sale. I was told I had till april 29 2013. when I called the company said they were gonna file the papers to take the house as of april 12 2013. I begged, I borrowed to get the money I owe; or at least I will have it by tuesday when the money from my 401 k gets here. if they file the petition do I get a chance to talk to the judge to explain my circumstances so they wont take the house. and I know if they file there will be extra fees I will have to pay. The last question I have is should I consult an attorney here in ilinois?

In most counties, the holder of the tax deed can extend the time, but they're not obliged to.
