Question

my question is this: thru my divorce decree in June 1998 I was awarded the house. there is a mortgage on the home and I have been paying all the expenses on this property for more then 3 1/2 years now. once the divorce was finalized I didn't get around to getting my ex's name off this mortgage. this past year my ex declared bankruptcy.
now, since his name is still on the mortgage, the mortgage company has placed the mortgage in bankruptcy status. when i found out, I called the mortgage company and explained the situation to them. they told me the only way now to get his name removed from the mortgage is to refinance the loan. is this really necessary. since, i have a single salary I am not sure the bank will refinance the loan and why should I have to go thru this expense. Is there another option?

Sorry, the only other option would be to sell the property.
