In 1993 I entered an equity share with my inlaws. I have over $30,000 in improvments. My exwife and I were gonna be remarried at her request and she changed her mind. In the beginning I was to get 1/4 of the equity plus any money I spent on improvements. That was the agreement because we weren't married again yet. I dont have a legal contract but I have paper work with the city saying I am an owner for construction purposes because of the equity share. I also have a heck of a paper trail and witnesses that know of the arrangement with my ex and her parents. she wants to move and they say I only get part of her share. Do I file a lien on the house or is there a better way to get my money? Thanks JIM

Go hire a lawyer. This is serious bucks, and a finicky section of law.
