We bought 2 parcels of land, 20 acres through a bank, and 10 acres through a private party. They are side by side. My husband had his leg cut off, so we let the 20 acres go into foreclosure because we paid too much and owed too much and its full of wetlands and other problems.., we kept the 10. We still owe the private party on the ten acres.
Through some screwup, we just found out that the bank has paid our taxes (which were not delinquent) on our 10 acres..and has let the taxes on the 20 go delinquent enough to where the 20 is about to be sold in 2 weeks at a County/State sale. Is the bank somehow party to our ten acres? We owe the other guy FIRST, and have never had this bank involved in any way with our ten acres except for an easement recorded over the corner of it. In the records, it lists OUR address as the owners address on the 20 acres (which foreclosed) and the Bank's address as the owner on the ten, which actually belongs to another guy. I know...see an attorney..! HA...but, really..is this weird or what? What if they screwed up...do we have to pay them the tax money back? What can we do to clear this up? If our private party contract owner finds out about this he will have a COW!
