Gain on Sale Of house Clarification

The 1997 Taxpayer Relief Act says that you can exclude the gain on the sale of the house provided you have lived in the house for 2 years. This 2 years is waived if you sell due to "change in place of employment". If I am laid off, thus changing my "place of employment", does this count?
