| Prior to leasing our house 1 year ago we were told by the leasing agent that we could go month-to-month with our lease. We signed up for 1 year, we do have this clause in our lease, however now that 1 year is up we have been told by the leasing agent that the owner of the property will not let us lease month-to-month because they feel that they will not be able to lease the house later in the year.We either have to sign the lease to renew or vacate the property, the agents say they wish it were up to them as we have been excellent tennants.Do they have the right to do this to us ? they have put a for lease sign on the proprty today. |

| Yes, they can do that. The whole point of a month to month lease is that either party can walk away from the lease on one month's notice. L has told you that you can stay as a month to month tenant until they find someone willing to sign a year lease. Either sign the lease or be prepared to move on 30 days notice. ------------------ This is not legal advice and you are not my client. Double check everything with your own attorney and your state's laws. |
