HOA lawn maintenace feesWhat is the name of your state? South Carolina I recently bought a house in this subdivision and closed on it in Sept. At that time, the HOA signed a contract with a lawn maintenance firm to maintain our properties for $62.50 per month per home, effective Oct. 1, 2006, for 51 weeks. Recently we received a letter from the HOA saying that this fee is being increased to $120.00 per month per home, effective immediately. Is this legal? It seems to me to be breach of contract. Also, I feel the maintenance company did a "bait and switch", bidding the contract at a low price and raising the cost at their convenience. What recourse do I have? I cannot afford $120.00 per month for somebody to mow my lawn. |

| Q: Is this legal? A: Yes. Your post is one reason I would never get anywhere near a HOA....

| Can you please explain to me how it is legal? The contract is for 51 weeks, and we are nowhere near that time frame. |
