Me and my ex-girlfriend purchased a home 7 years ago. She moved out 4 years ago after the split up, yet she never helped to make a single house payment. Not only have I made all the house payments, I've paid for all upkeep and maintenance of this home. Now I want to sell, since she won't sign a quitclaim deed. My attorney will force a sale. yet it wouldn't be fair for her to receive half of the profits from the sale. This is what I'm being told. Isn't there any other recourse?

You are correct. In your case, it would not be fair.
That is why your attorney needs to file the partition suit and claim that all or a majority of the the sales proceeds should go to you.
