A national home builder that we purchased our home from has now lowered the base price by $78,000.00. This effectively makes it impossible to sell my home just to break even. They had a clause in the contract that if we sold within 2 years they were entitled to the profit. What can be done in the form of getting a rebate from the builder for lowering the price?

Any remedy you might have would be in the contract. However, based on just what you posted, you have no case.

The time to slip that 'rebate' clause into the contract, would have been before you signed the contract. It would have been reasonable to ask for them to share in any potential loss within 2 years, if they were also asking to share in the profit.

I'd never offer to give up profits from a potential future sale, without some type of really good compensation in the here & now.
