homestead exemption and home sell What is the name of your state? florida We own a house together for 12 years and are not married but both of our names are on the deed, we are building a new home with the home equity line from this 1st home but the loan is in his name. He is going to move to the new home and take his name off this deed and put it on the new one so he can redside there and claim homestead exemption. The only thing is when the old home sells that I am in, since he is no longer on the deed, is he entitled to the 250,000 in the 2 years of living in the 60 months time frame, but his name is no longer on the deed but it was when he lived here showing the time frame??
