How many years of property taxes need to be paid before one has claim on land?

I live in Ca and I have caught up property taxes on my uncle's land for the past three years. My uncle is not the one that I want to get rid of it is a person who has tricked his way on to the deed as 29% ownenr. He claims that he loaned my Uncle money enough to pay for his portion of taxes forever. Is this a possible way to get him off of the deed?
