i am in south carolina and i have two questions.
can a mortgage company refuse payment even after i talked to a representative and worked out payment options to bring my account up to current? i sent a payment as per their instructions and two weeks later i recieved the payment along with a letter stating that they would not accept the payment after i had been assuming for two weeks that the payment was recieved and posted on my account. also i was supposed to have 14 more days after the date of the letter to contact them and discuss payment options to avoid forclosure. when i contacted them, within 10 days of the date on the letter head, they said that they could not discuss the account with us, and that it had already gone to a lawyer for forclosure. can they do that?
