I have a Joint tenants with right to survivorship with my wife and mother. So, the deed has Husband, wife, and mother as three joint owners as right to survivorship. We were told to do this because we would not be able to qualify for mortgage unless mom was added as owner. But, she just receives Social Security as income. She is hosptalized and now is required to have 24 hr care, we all work so cannot be home with her. We are trying to apply for medicaid so she can be put in long term nursing home. Would her being one of the owners have an effect on her being qualified for Long Term nursing care? She only has Social Security as income and does not even appear on our mortgage. She does not pay any of the mortgage. We just needed her name on the deed. Could anything happen to our house if we try to sell in the future?
