I live in Louisiana and bought a house in 2/97. The house sets off the main road about 200 feet. There is an old railroad bed that has been used as a driveway to the property from the main road since the house was built in 1971 that is about 200 by 30 feet. The seller, surveyors and Title company could find little information on who holds the title on the driveway and so an easement was created on property next to the railroad bed that is owned by the seller. The information that they did find shows that the owners of the undeveloped property opposite to the easement and driveway and our property possibly own the old railroad bed. They state that they do not own the property and since we have been using it and maintaining it, that we should try to claim the strip of land. What would this be called and how do I go about this. Thank You.
