Mortgage Lender will not Release Payoff Statement

I live in Ca. but own a house in Oh. The house in Oh. is listed for sale and I am currently trying to schedule a closing as I've received an offer on it. My mortgage lender will not release payoff information to neither my title company nor me. I have signed and faxed the appropriate documentation to request this information, but my lender (Washington Mutual/Chase) still will not release the information. I am now at risk for losing this house sale. Has anyone ever encountered this? What can I do? Any advice is welcome.

**A: have the title company have their attorney send a demand letter.
