Mortgage payments denied

mortgage company denied our payments, at lease twice. After the 2nd time I sent an e-mail enquiring why. Was informed that our loan # was changed and to send in payments again. Shouldn't they have cross-refrenced the # and accepted the payments before? What action if any should I take?Tennessee

Send them in again! Put loan number on check and enclose a note.
