Movie "MONEY PIT"...IT'S ABOUT US! HELP!

What is the name of your state? Indiana

Help,
My husband and I fell in love with our home the second we stepped foot in it. We went through all the steps including the inspection. Long story short, we are now questioning if the inspector ever stepped foot in our home. We bought our home 2 years ago in July. Since that time we have either had to replace of fix EVERYTHING...NO JOKE. 3 months after we were here I put my hand THROUGH THE WALK IN SHOWER WALL!!! The previous owner had completed much of the interior work himself. Problem was that he didn't know what the heck he was doing!!! He put tile in the bathroom but put it on drywall instead of rockboard. So, due to that of course the shower leaked!!! Tons of damage including MOLD GROWING IN THE WALLS AND UNDER THE CARPET! We feel they did not use that shower while the house was for sale and did some quick covering and air freshener to hide the problem. Then it was one thing after another. Furnace, AC, (Both needed fixed before we could even use them the first time) Water softener had to be replaced, kitchen tile had to be replaced due to improper laying (no sub floor under it had 38 broken tiles after 4 months) , ice machine in freezer replaced, fan on fire place had to be fixed. NOW THE BIG ONE>>>>>>>>>>A NEW SEPTIC!! The man who came to see what the problem was informed us that he hasn't a clue as to how they could build the house with that septic because it was far to small for the number of bathrooms that we have. We have to put 12,000 more dollars into this house! That is the last straw!! Can we go back on the sellers for all the money we have lost? We feel they not only know of all the problems but that they tried to cover them all up. How can you not know that your shower is leaking and growing mold in the walls? Or that your septic is to small for your home?!!! The inspectors sheet stated that all of these things were in working order and they weren't that is why we feel he never even came in the house. His sheet states in small writing that the only thing he can be accountable for if the $200 inspection fee. We live in one of those "Good O'le Boys" towns where he may have just been a little busy that day so he asked a favor the the realtor...who is his friend!! HELP!!! We're almost out of money....not to mention the 280.000 that we spent for our "Beautiful from the outside" home!

**A: consult with a real estate attorney immediately and ask about the SOL. It may be too late to file a claim.

You need to document everything. Photo's, video's, the works. If this guy knowingly concealed defects and faulty work you may have recourse. Of course, as Guru said the deadline for filing a suit is the issue right now. You need to determine how long you have to file suit and from what point. When you made discovery of the defects may become very important so keep records of everything.

If nothing else, you should be looking at the inspector for recovery of some of this. Good Luck.

In addition writer, why have you not filed a claim against the inspector from the time of discovery of the problems 2 years ago?
