need some help

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

On March 13, 2009 My house was posted with a "Notice to Vacate" on March 13, 2009 due to "Code Violations" from the Code Enforcement officials. At that time we were told we could still be in the house to do repairs or retrieve personal belongings but, because they had the electric shut off, we had to be out by 5 pm. because it was illegal to be there with no electricity.
The following day they came back and told us that we were not allowed to enter the property at all because they declared it "unsafe" due to the fact we did not have permits for a patio and pool that my husband had added to the house. They said they had close to 70 code violations they could write up on us and they were being nice by not enforcing action on them.
I am also in a pending bankruptcy case and my house was going to go into foreclosure before I filed for bankruptcy.
The initial notices thatwere posted on my house had my name misspellled and also had an address in the header of the pages following page 1, that I had no association with at all.
On March 23, 2009 I went to City Hall to question this odd address and ask about this unknown address and was informed that the official whose signature was on this notice, was on vacation and wouldn't be back until next week.
On March 24, 2009, code enforcement officials returned to post a new, corrected copy of their notice, and at that time they informed me that my house had been sold the day before (March 23) at a public auction.
I have never been told this or informed about this, not by mail, a phone call, nothing. How is it they knew this and I didn't?
Now I sent a letter to them to appeal them keeping us out of our home and I was told by code enforcement officials that if I pursued appealing this action they would proceed in filing me with almost 70 code violations they claim to have on the house and each one of the violations cost up to $1000 for fines and approximately 1 year in jail for each violation also.
As of today (April 1, 2009) they arrived and boarded up my house so we can not enter the premises at all, and said that it is not my home any longer that someone had bought it.

Can anyone advise me what to do here? I feel very intimidated but feel that something here is not right.
Thank you.

They probably knew because they looked up the recorded information when they were preparing the corrected violation paperwork.

Are you telling me you never got any foreclosure paperwork?

If the house is sold you don't seem to have any further responsibility for code violations nor anything to appeal about the condemnation.

You need a lawyer. I'd start with the one handling your BK
