I live in Alabama. I just received a notice from the Prichard City Inspector's Office that someone has applied for a subdivision plat directly behind my residence. The land in question is low and overflow from rain, etc. runs through my property because of natural flow. I am afraid that this problem will become greater if a subdivision is built. I would like to attend the city council meeting for approval of the plat to oppose the subdivision, but I am not sure what grounds I would have to do so. Can you help?

Just show up or call the office and request that they put you down as attending and requesting to give testimony. That is a public meeting. If you get hassles, send a certified letter voicing your opposition.
