I reside in South Carolina and am searching for recourses for avoiding having my property included in the area that the town is proposing to be incorporated. The issue of incorporation is coming up for a vote so any assistance in pointing me in the correct direction is greatly appreciated in advance.

Sorry, but your individual choice to avoid incorporation is just not realistic. You will need to get a lot of others who feel the same way as you and vote against the annexation proposal.
If you get enough you can avoid it, but without that, you WILL be annexed.
