| I have a problem. I signed a 1 1/2 year lease with option to buy in Miami with a so called friend. There is a $800 security deposit along with an additional $500.00 deposit for down payment if I decide to purchase the house. My monthly payment are noted at $800 in the contract, however she raised my rent to $840.00 last month which I payed.I am now purchasing a home and I have advised her on Sept 2, giving her 28 day notice. I still have 6 months remaining on my lease.I have told her to pay this last month with my security deposit, since the home is in better condition than when she leased it to me and that she can keep the $500.00 for the breaking of the lease. And if she does not find any one for October I will pay for that month.She however wants to keep the $1300.00 and have me pay for this month and October if she does not find anyone. What are my options? Can I break my lease based on the rent increase not nmoted in the contract? Can she keep those $1300.00 and still charge me rent?Please Help!!!!! |
