owner won't leave

What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Virginia

I bought a house in a foreclosure and closed on June 29. The owner is
still living in the house and wants to stay. He wants me to rent back to
him. I told him I would think about it. I have thought about it and I
want him out of the property. Also he has a vicious dog that he kept on
the property with him. I am afraid of him and what he might do to the
property. How do I go about getting this man out of my property.
Do I need to hire a lawyer? or can I just go to the courthouse and
file an unlawful detainer??

You need to contact an attorney to start eviction proceedings.
