I am considering buying a vacant beach lot in Rhode Island , but somebody put the idea in my head that the owners of the houses across the street and/or their weekly tenants may have prescriptive rights to use my beach because they always use it now, since the current owner of the lot is not located nearby. What are the elements of prescriptive rights in Rhode Island, if they exist, and how easily are they enforced?
