Question
What is it and how do find if one has been opened on someone? In Illinois.

Contact the Probate Court in your State and have them check their records for a case number under the Estate of (name of the deceased). You may also contact a friend, relative etc. of the person. Keep in mind that even if a person died, a probate action is not automatic.
