What is the name of your state? Texas

If my home (not the one I live in, but I own the home and my parents live in it)gets a lien put on it due to past due childsupport (the child is 22 years now). If I owed say $20,000.00 but my home only had $5,000.00 equity would be allowed to sell my home send the equity to the debt or would I be required to sell for all the amount owed even if the home was not worth that much?

You would be required to sell the home.

The loan, costs of sale, expenses, etc., would be paid off.

Then whatever is left over (if anything) up to $20K would go to pay your child back.
