Question

My Mom has been staying on a piece of land that her mother had own...just before my grandmother died she gave it to my mom sister...This was about 25 to 30 years ago...My parents moved to the land 20 years ago.. sence then my aunt gave the land to her son and now after 20 years he wants to build there...so now my mom has to leave so they can build...does she have any rights to this land after staying there for 20 years and that it was in her family...any help would be appreciated....This is in NC...

Call a real estate attorney and ask about adverse possession.

Did your mom make any improvements to the land? Maybe she can sue for reimbursement under an unjust enrichment theory.
