Property tax bill and wrong name on itWhat is the name of your state? What is the name of your state?IL How does it effect your property, if at all, if your property tax bill is not in your name? About 25yrs ago my in-laws bought their parents house (3 parcels, one which the house sits on), apparently the tax bill was never changed to my in-laws name. My Father in-law has since passed away. Mother in law has put the house in trust with her and her childrens names. Still the property tax for those parcels are listed with my husbands grandfathers name. I don't know why Mother in-law hasn't done a name change on the tax bill, but I was just wondering if it could cause problems if she were to pass away. Specifically, could the children of my father in-laws sibling (also deceased) try to lay stake to that land? Or since my mother in law has a mtg. on the property does the wrong name not matter? How important is it to get that name corrected and what if any effect will it have on the assessment of her property? Thanks in advance |

| well within the last two years she has gotten a home equity line of credit on the home so I'm sure hers is. As I said in the other post she has it in trust for her children. |

**A: get the facts straight. We need to know who is on title to the property as stated in the deed. |

According to the Recorder of Deeds by her PIN for those parcels it's stated as: Deed in Trust The Grantor: (My mother in-laws name), A Widow and Not since Re-married, of (her address) Last edited by Didi67; 09-22-2005 at 03:35 PM. |
