I need info please. My husband of 1 1/2 years refinanced the house we currently live in. He's owned it for seven years. When he refinanced it, he put the new mortgage in his name only. I told him I wanted my name on it also-seeing how we are married! He said he can quit claim deed it so my name will be on it. I need facts here. I live in Michigan. Could you please tell me what my rights are as the wife and what steps I should take?? Thank you and God Bless-Charise

Was your name on the deed before the refinance or only his? If he files a Quit Claim Deed to both you and him holding title via Tenants by the Entirety, you own half the home and only he is still on the mortgage. Maybe it was easier for him to qualify for the mortgage loan himself or maybe his strategy was not to use or tie up your credit. Ask him tonight over a nice cooked gourmet meal served with some fine wine. Don't forget the fancy tablecloth and candles.
