I rent a house in SF, CA, with 2 other people. When we moved in the house came fully furnished with appliances (washer/dryer, refrigerator, oven, dishwasher, etc.), and by law the L has to maintain the working condition of these appliances or replace. The fridge has had major problems and the repair man has been in a bunch of times - each time trying to replace another part, etc. The L put in over $300 in repairs to this fridge (it is an old fridge, probably the original one in the house 60's or 70's). Cut to the chase, we want a new fridge, the L is not thrilled with that idea after they put in money to repair this one. We have lost several $100 of food due to the fridge problems, and want a new one. What should we do? How do we address this with the L?
Thank you.

If the old clunker still works there is not much you can do. Only if L wants to buy a new one, do you get a new one. L can always buy a used one.
