Right-of-way law or can someone cut through our yard?

What is the name of your state? I live in NC and own and live on property that has a right of way to a piece of marsh on the water that is owned by a paper company who wants to sell it as a viable building lot. There is a 40' right of way through our front yard that I have planted trees on and want to know if I have any choice if they sell and want to use the lot. The company has sent people out who have not walked the right of way in over 15 years. They just park on the street and don't come on the land. Any ideas?

Thanks for any help.
