I am the executrix of an estate that owns a coop apartment in Queens, NY. My sister lives there illegally. (She was evicted by my father one month before his death, but never left.) I need to get access to the apartment to have it appraised and have his belongings appraised. Can I just give her notice and enter? What if she tries to prevent me from entering? If she has chenged the locks, can I change them again as long as I give her a key? Is there any way to do this without going to court?
Thanks,
Sharon

If there was a legal eviction then Sis is trespassing. Want to settle without going to court? Hire a hitman.
