| Survey company specified wrong lot size What is the name of your state? MO
We purchased a home in a subdivision last year. All paperwork, including survey sheets and platt documents on file at the county and city offices states the lot is a certain square footage. The tax assessment forms also go by this lot size. The deed references this lot size. The survey company gave the lot size as 17743 sq ft, and it is only 11743 sq feet. Property taxes were based on the 17743 sq ft number, and we paid a lot premium for the lot. It was advertised as 17743 sq ft. I've already contacted the survey company and they told me yes there was a mistake and they would file and addendum or somthing with the county.
Do I have any recourse in getting the overpayment in taxes due to the lot being 6000 sq ft smaller than is on the books, and do I have any recourse on getting a refund on the lot premium I paid, and what about any loss in value due to the significant reduction in lot size?
Oh, I did pay for title insurance, if that makes any difference.
