Question

tenant rental relocation payment rights

What is the name of your state? California
I have a 12 month rental lease on a townhome in Marina Dely Rey Ca. The owners are gong to tear down the complex and rebuild a highrise in aproximately 10 months. I have been a tenant for over 5 1/2 years. Do I have a right to a relocation payment when they serve our notices. Aproximately how much could I expect?

I know nothing of California law, but I have to ask you: Why would you think you are entitled to a "relocation payment"?

Just curious....

When did your 12 month lease start and when does it end?

relocation-lease began

I moved in on 8/00 on a month to month and on May 1, 2005 I signed a one year lease as required by a new managment company. If we did not sign the lease in May 2005 our rent would have increased by $300.00.

**A: then you do not need to move out until your lease ends. Ask how much they will pay you to move out early.

What HomeGuru said, and no you do not have any right to any compensation by moving on at the end of your lease because it is less than 10 months away.

**A: yes, but they should ask for a huge compensation package to move out early.
