I live in Montgomery County Pennsylvania and am having a problem with my neighbor regarding tree trimming. We have a tree that is on our property. A very large branch is hanging over my neighbors roof (the tree is just over the property line - her house is 16 feet from the property line). The tree has been standing there for approximately 50 years and now she is worried that it will fall onto her roof. She insists that it is our responsibility to trim it (approximately $400). We say that she has the right to trim what is hanging over her property but we should not have to pay for it. Who is right?

(Last year, a tree on split on the property line of us and another neighbor fell onto the neighbors property. We split the cost of removal with the neighbor and now we have been told by other people that that was definately not our responsibility! We feel taken advantage of on that side - I don't want to be taken advantage of again!)
Thanks!

It is your tree so you should pay. You are willing to be a bad neighbor over a measly $400. Give me a break. If you lived next to me I would sue and force you to remove the entire tree.

Is Homeguru always so hostile? Is this legal advice or are you just angry at one of your neighbors and venting on me?
I am really upset by your post - I was only asking for advice - not hostility.

HomeGuru is not hostile. Just read approximately 7020 of the HomeGuru posts.
On the contrary, HomeGuru takes care of neighbors on all sides.
So if you want to act like a tree, leave.

Oh dear, umhapppy campers.
My, oh my, what ever should I do?

Moza, if you want me off this forum please email your request directly to the website administrator.
But first remember that in your post it was you that gave the wrong facts on tree height and did not accept my advice as legal.

I have already written to the administrator, so really didn't need for you to tell me that.

Caustic Mouth Guru

Why is a person like this on the forum as a Senior Member and giving advice? He sounds like he is a very disturbed and hostile person. And I did read some of the reply's from the Guru and a majority of them ARE hostile. A 'Guru' is a personal spiritual teacher, A revered teacher or mentor......find this hard to believe in this case. Perhaps you should chose a different name and forum!!!
