I live in Colorado, we built our home 7 years ago on a ranch that has been subdivided. We put up our fencing right after we moved into our home as we have horses. Our fencing is a minimum of 8 inches, but more like 12 inches inside our lot lines. Two years ago, people purchased and built a home on the lot behind us. They put up a very expensive wooden privacy type fence right on the lot line. Since then, my horses have reached over and chewed the top off of a few boards (5 total to be exact). The neighbor is telling us we have to either move our fence, or put up an electric hot wire. We are on acreage - it's not feasable to run hot wire that far from our home and where the electricity is - nor do we feel that we should have to move our fence as it was there years ago (along with our horses) We have offered to paint the fence with a bitter solution (which is clear) so the horses will not want to chew, but that was unacceptable to them... any adivse on where we stand would be greatly appreciated!

Offer to repair the fence and apply the bitter. That's all you need to do to mitigate the problems.
