Notified by neighbors that tenants of our property are operating a commercial business out of their home (not just an office). They have business equipment parked in driveway an most the time on the street. What are zoning laws for home-based businesses? What rights do the neighbors have? What rights does landlord have if nothing in lease stated about getting permission to run business. According to neighbors, equipment is eyesore. One trailer has set for weeks with flat on it. Thanks for response.

Read your write lease agreement as there should be a clause stating that the leased premises is for residential use only or for use in accordance with applicable laws. If the zoning is residential, then commercial usage may not be allowed.

Zoning laws are different in each State, City and County.

Send the tenants a certified letter stating that they are in violation of the use of the property and must refrain from commercial use.
