14-year old ticket in collection agency hands

Resident of New Jersey, parking ticket apparently issued in Philadelphia PA.

I just got letter from National Recovery Agency, Inc, claiming I have an upaid parking ticket from 1991!. It says I must pay $126 or they'll get nasty.

I have no recollection of any such ticket, would have paid it, etc.

Obviously City of Philadelphia just hired this collection agency and is going after old citations, but 14 years ago, and $126?

What to do?

Regretably, there is no expiration on these old tickets.... if they are valid.
This company is hoping to harass and intimidate until you pay (some do, which is sufficient to induce this scum-sucking, bottom feeding firm to do this).
Send them a 'cease and desist' letter telling them to not contact you again. A good form can be found at http://www.creditinfocenter.com/forms/

For more on this 'contact', with a number to call, go to: http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/business/columnists/jeff_gelles/10169602.htm?1c

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

Gee, don't you think the cashed check would do that??? DOH!!
Especially since if they don't cash the check, it means nothing.... even if you can prove it was delivered.

Is a "cease and decease" letter one where you tell them to "drop dead"?
