I was in an accident, thought that I had insurance(father had cancelled it without notifying me). Two years later I moved to another state (surrendered my IL license and got the new states lic.)and I stopped paying(Yes, my bad. as much inability as lack of desire) Two yrs later Illinois suspended my Lic. Yes, the one I sent back. Six years later, I came back to IL, but retained my AR lic. due to the requirements for reinstatement being SR22 (high risk/high cost). Now, another 10yrs have passed. I have had my insurance with the same company for the past 6 or 7 yrs. I haven't had a moving violation in nearly thirteen yrs. I am trying to get this cleared up. short of filing chapter thirteen, I cannot see a way to get around the SR22 (not that I care about the watchful eye of big brother. It's the added cost, I live from hand to mouth as it is). Can anyone recommend a (rapid)course of action?
